Anthropic launches Claude for Financial Advisors, wiring Claude into Schwab, BlackRock and a dozen wealth platforms

The new plugin bundles connectors to custodians, asset managers and CRM tools with pre-built workflows for meeting prep, portfolio reviews and compliance checks, keeping every consequential action subject to advisor approval.

Anthropic on September 14 launched Claude for Financial Advisors, a plugin that connects Claude to the custodians, asset managers and wealth-technology platforms advisory firms already run on -- Charles Schwab, BlackRock Advisor Center, Addepar, Envestnet, iCapital, Orion, SS&C Black Diamond, Wealthbox, Wealth.com, Vanguard and Zocks -- on top of existing integrations with Microsoft 365, Salesforce, DocuSign, Box, FactSet, S&P Global and Morningstar. It's built around eight specific workflows: advisor onboarding, alternative-investments briefing, compliance and AI-policy review, estate and tax briefing, portfolio rebalance review, post-meeting notes and follow-up, pre-meeting prep, and prospect intake.

Advisors stay in the loop, on paper

Anthropic's own framing is narrow by design: Peter Nolan, the company's head of asset and wealth management, told WealthManagement.com that Anthropic isn't trying to replace the tools already in an advisor's stack, only to drive more use of Claude within it. The product pulls from a firm's CRM, custodian data, portfolio reporting and meeting notes to prep a client review, then drafts follow-ups, CRM updates and compliance checks for the advisor to approve -- Anthropic's materials list advisor approval on every action, audit trails, and no training on client data among the built-in controls. Ritholtz Wealth Management CEO Josh Brown put the pitch for the product plainly: "spending hours every week laboring over CRM updates and task assignments."

Partners are betting on distribution, not just a feature

The partner list matters as much as the feature list here -- BlackRock, Schwab, Zocks and eight other wealth platforms are supplying live connectors, not just endorsing the launch, so client and portfolio data that used to sit in separate systems shows up in one Claude conversation. Availability is through Anthropic's Enterprise plans starting today, with firms that request a license before the end of September getting a one-time usage credit.

This is the kind of deployment Merit AC exists to measure: a vertical AI product sold on time saved in back-office workflows, not model capability, where the real test is whether "advisors spend more time with clients" shows up in actual output and adoption numbers rather than just in the vendor's own framing.
