Tandem Health raises $100M to grow from AI scribe into a full clinic operating system
The Stockholm startup's Series B, led by the EU-backed Scaleup Europe Fund, is aimed at expanding beyond AI-generated medical notes into scheduling, triage and patient communications for European clinics.
Tandem Health, a Stockholm-based healthtech startup, has raised $100 million in a Series B led by the Scaleup Europe Fund, an EU-backed vehicle managed by EQT, with existing investors Kinnevik, Northzone, Amino Collective and Visionaries also participating. The round follows a $50 million Series A in 2025 and brings the company's total funding to $160 million.
Tandem's core product is an LLM-powered co-pilot that generates medical notes during patient consultations -- the company says it's now used by 10,000 care organizations across 14 European markets, with the UK, where NHS clinicians use it, as its largest market. The roughly 170-person company says the new capital goes toward two things: deepening its position with European care providers, and expanding from an AI medical assistant into what it calls an AI-native "Clinic Operating System" that would also handle patient flow, triage, scheduling and patient communications.
CEO and co-founder Lukas Saari framed the raise as a sovereignty argument as much as a product one, saying Tandem was built to give European clinics an alternative: "Europe should be setting the standard for how AI enters healthcare, not adopting someone else's."
The distinction Tandem is betting on -- and the one that determines whether this round turns into real value rather than another AI tool bought and left half-used -- is whether an AI co-pilot that saves clinicians documentation time actually gets adopted deeply enough, and widely enough across a clinic's other workflows, to show up as measurable time or cost saved rather than a line item nobody uses.
