Nvidia recruited Wall Street to help finance $500 billion of AI infrastructure

Apollo, BlackRock, Blackstone, Brookfield, Goldman Sachs, and KKR will run financing platforms that lend Nvidia customers money to build data centers and buy Nvidia hardware -- funded mostly by third-party capital, not Nvidia's own balance sheet.

Nvidia announced on August 10, 2026 that it's partnering with six major financial firms -- Apollo, BlackRock, Blackstone, Brookfield, Goldman Sachs, and KKR -- to build financing platforms aimed at mobilizing more than $500 billion in third-party capital. The money is meant to fund the data centers, servers, networking gear, buildings, and power that Nvidia's hyperscaler and frontier-lab customers need to buy and deploy its chips at the scale they're now buying them.

What Nvidia is and isn't putting up

The capital is explicitly framed as third-party: pension funds, insurers, and other institutional investors channeled through the six partner firms, not Nvidia's own cash. CEO Jensen Huang framed the pitch around the chips' resale value: Nvidia compute is "broadly adopted, flexible across models and workloads, fungible and transferable across customers and operators" -- in other words, a GPU cluster is collateral a lender can actually recover value from if a customer defaults, unlike a bespoke data center.

The part worth watching

Every dollar mobilized this way ultimately funds more purchases of Nvidia's own hardware -- Nvidia is not a neutral party financing someone else's independent decision, it's underwriting demand for its own product at a scale that's now measured against its balance sheet's own equity holdings. That's not evidence of anything improper on its own, but it is the detail a company evaluating its own AI infrastructure spend should hold onto: financing structures that make AI capacity easier and faster to acquire don't change whether the workloads running on that capacity are actually producing value, they just change how much capacity gets bought before anyone checks.
