OpenAI's models and Codex workflows are coming to Google Cloud's Model Garden
OpenAI says its frontier models will be sold through Google Cloud Marketplace, putting them inside the cloud of the company behind Gemini.
OpenAI announced on October 21 that "OpenAI and Google Cloud are bringing frontier models and Codex workflows to Gemini's Model Garden, available through Google Cloud Marketplace." Model Garden is the catalog inside Google Cloud where customers choose and deploy models, including Google's own Gemini.
What isn't public yet
OpenAI's summary doesn't name which models will be listed, when they will be generally available, or what they will cost on Google Cloud. Reports listing specific models and a private-preview period could not be checked against OpenAI's or Google's own text, so they are left out here.
Why it matters
Buying a model through a cloud marketplace usually puts the charge on your cloud bill, not a separate invoice from the model's maker. That is convenient, and it makes AI spend harder to see, because it sits next to storage and compute under one cloud account. If your team starts calling OpenAI models through Google Cloud, tag that usage by project from the first call so you can still tell what it costs and what it produced.
