Creative briefs: week ending 2026-10-11
Driftwell Sleep Co. (fictional) · data through 2026-10-11 · target ROAS 2.00x · currency USD
Goals: Find the next 3AM-wakeup-level winner before Q4 and stop leaning on one creator. Hold 2.0x ROAS.
5 briefs (3 iteration, 2 new concept) against a quota of 5 for $22,000.00 monthly spend. Every brief builds on a WINNER or PROMISING creative in the winner database and was checked by tools/check_briefs.py: all sections present, reference id real, no documented loser repeated, every performance number traced to a tool output.
Written by Claude from the tool outputs; numbers come from work/winners.json. Nothing has been launched or changed in any ad account.

B1 · 3 a.m. wake-up, shot as a POV by a new creator
Type: iteration · Concept: 3AMWakeup · Angle: Pain · Hook type: POV · Format: UGC · Creator: Maya
Reference: 3AMWakeup_Pain_Question_UGC_Creator-Jo_v2 (Ad ID 120210441100001, WINNER): 2.57x ROAS on $16,635.26 lifetime spend, 667 conversions. Source: work/winners.json.
Competitor references: C1 (work/assets.json)
Hypothesis
The reference (120210441100001) is the account's largest winner: $16,635.26 lifetime spend at 2.57x. Its Meta ad is FATIGUING this week (A5): CTR fell from 1.60% to 1.19% while frequency rose from 1.15 to 1.45, so the same people have seen the same opening too often. The Pain angle has 2 of 3 judged creatives winning, and POV is the hook type with the most judged winners (2 of 4). A POV opening on the same 3 a.m. moment should win back attention without leaving the angle that sells. Moving it to Maya, whose MorningAfter Question ad reached 2.15x, also starts to reduce the 78.1% of winning spend that sits with Jo. C1 shows a competitor running the same 3 a.m. moment for 102 days, so the problem still lands with this audience.
Hook
On-screen text over the first frame: "POV: it's 3:07 a.m. and your brain just started a podcast." Maya, lit only by her phone, stares at the ceiling and mouths "again?"
Visual direction
Handheld phone footage in a dark bedroom, phone-screen light on the face, real clock on the nightstand in shot. No studio light, no product in the first two seconds. Product appears on the nightstand at the turn, then a morning shot in daylight with the same framing as the opening so the change is visible. Captions burned in, large, top third.
Script beats
- POV hook: 3:07 a.m. on the clock, Maya awake, text overlay as above.
- The spiral: three quick cuts of things she thinks about at 3 a.m. (emails, a dentist appointment, a song lyric).
- The turn: "what finally worked was boring": spray on the pillow, two breaths, phone face down.
- Proof: same framing, daylight, alarm going off, she's asleep until it rings.
- Call to action: "Try it for 30 nights" with the product on the nightstand.
Format
9:16 vertical, 20 to 25 seconds, Meta Feed and Reels in PROS | Broad | Purchases. Change versus the reference: new hook type (POV instead of Question) and new creator (Maya instead of Jo); same concept, angle and UGC style.
Success metric
ROAS at or above 2.00x once it has spent $150.00, judged on the ad's own numbers in Ads Manager.
Stop rule
Switch it off at $64.00 spend with no purchase, or at $150.00 spend if ROAS is under 1.60x (the LOSER line). Keep the reference live until this one has spent $50.00, as A5 says.
B2 · Partner snoring, new opening line for TikTok
Type: iteration · Concept: PartnerSnoring · Angle: Relief · Hook type: Callout · Format: UGC · Creator: Sam
Reference: PartnerSnoring_Relief_POV_UGC_Creator-Sam_v1 (Ad ID 1780331520443300002, WINNER): 2.25x ROAS on $1,947.79 lifetime spend, 69 conversions. Source: work/winners.json.
Competitor references: C3 (work/assets.json)
Hypothesis
The reference (1780331520443300002) is a WINNER at 2.25x on $1,947.79. On TikTok this week its hook rate fell from 31.86% to 24.08% and CTR from 1.29% to 0.95% (A6, FATIGUING), while hold rate stayed at 16.88%: people who get past the opening still watch, fewer get past it. That points at the first two seconds, not the offer. Keep Sam, the concept and the Relief angle, and change only the opening to a direct callout so the test reads clean. C3 shows a competitor running a partner-snoring POV for 147 days, so the problem itself still has room; the opening needs to look different from theirs and from ours.
Hook
Sam, straight to camera, pointing at the viewer: "If you sleep next to a snorer, stop scrolling." Text overlay: "for the light sleepers".
Visual direction
Sam in a bedroom doorway at night, partner's snoring audible off-screen. Front camera, natural light from the hallway. Cut to the bedside: spray, then Sam lying down with a small eye-roll at the snoring that now doesn't matter. Native TikTok captions, no brand intro card.
Script beats
- Callout hook to camera, as above, snoring audible.
- The problem in one line: "Earplugs fall out. Nudging him works for four minutes."
- What changed: spray on the pillow, weighted mask on, lights off.
- The payoff: morning, Sam rested, partner asking "did I snore?" and Sam shrugging.
- Call to action: "Link's on the profile. 30-night trial."
Format
9:16 vertical, 15 to 20 seconds, TikTok Spark ad in Spark - Sleep 18-44. Change versus the reference: opening line only (Callout instead of POV). Same creator, concept, angle and length.
Success metric
ROAS at or above 2.00x once it has spent $150.00 on TikTok.
Stop rule
Switch it off at $64.00 spend with no purchase, or at $150.00 spend if ROAS is under 1.60x. If it passes, switch off the reference once this ad has spent $50.00 in a week.
B3 · Same partner-snoring POV script, second creator
Type: iteration · Concept: PartnerSnoring · Angle: Relief · Hook type: POV · Format: UGC · Creator: Dev
Reference: PartnerSnoring_Relief_POV_UGC_Creator-Jo_v1 (Ad ID 120210441100003, WINNER): 2.56x ROAS on $4,551.32 lifetime spend, 181 conversions. Source: work/winners.json.
Hypothesis
The reference (120210441100003) runs at 2.56x on $4,551.32 lifetime and 2.73x this week (A7, SCALING). It is one of three Jo winners that together hold 78.1% of winning spend. Re-shooting the same POV script with a different creator tests whether the concept or Jo is doing the work. If the new version reaches 2.00x, the account has a second voice for its second-largest concept and less riding on one person.
Hook
On-screen text: "POV: you finally found the one thing that works on his snoring." Dev lies awake, partner snoring beside him, then reaches for the nightstand.
Visual direction
Match the reference shot for shot so the creator is the only change: same dark bedroom, same nightstand framing, same product reveal at the same second. Dev films on his own phone. Keep Jo's caption style and pacing.
Script beats
- POV hook with on-screen text, snoring audible.
- Dev's deadpan list of failed fixes: earplugs, white noise, sleeping on the couch.
- Product moment: spray on the pillow, mask on.
- Morning: both awake and rested, Dev gives a thumbs up.
- Call to action: "30 nights to try it."
Format
9:16 vertical, matching the reference length (about 20 seconds), Meta Feed and Reels in PROS | Broad | Purchases, next to the reference so both get the same audience. Change versus the reference: creator only.
Success metric
ROAS at or above 2.00x once it has spent $150.00.
Stop rule
Switch it off at $64.00 spend with no purchase, or at $150.00 spend if ROAS is under 1.60x.
B4 · 30-night sleep diary from one real customer, for cold audiences
Type: new-concept · Concept: SleepDiary · Angle: Trust · Hook type: Testimonial · Format: UGC · Creator: Priya
Reference: Reviews montage (Ad ID 120210441100012, WINNER): 2.92x ROAS on $2,467.17 lifetime spend, 113 conversions. Source: work/winners.json.
Competitor references: C5 (work/assets.json)
Hypothesis
Reviews montage (120210441100012) has the best ROAS of any winner, 2.92x on $2,467.17, but it runs to site visitors, so some of that return is people who already knew the brand. A cold-audience concept on the same Trust angle and Testimonial hook tests whether proof works before the first visit. A diary format gives the testimonial a before and after inside one ad. C5 shows a competitor running a 30-night-trial message for 123 days.
Hook
Priya holds up a notebook to camera: "Night 1: slept 4 hours. Night 30:" and turns the page.
Visual direction
Real notebook, handwritten entries, close-ups of the pages between talking shots. Bedroom in daylight for the diary reading, one night shot of the routine. Priya speaks in her own words from her own notes; no scripted superlatives. Product visible on the desk next to the notebook from the start.
Script beats
- Notebook hook: night 1 entry read aloud, page turn.
- Week 1 entries: still waking up, sticking with the routine.
- Week 2 entries: first full night, what she did differently.
- Night 30 entry read aloud, then to camera: "I stopped writing it down because there was nothing to write."
- Call to action: "Start your own 30 nights."
Format
4:5 for Feed and 9:16 for Reels, 25 to 30 seconds, prospecting ad set PROS | Broad | Purchases (not retargeting, so the test is cold traffic).
Success metric
ROAS at or above 2.00x once it has spent $150.00 in the prospecting ad set.
Stop rule
Switch it off at $64.00 spend with no purchase, or at $150.00 spend if ROAS is under 1.60x.
B5 · Callout to shift workers who sleep in the day, told by the founder
Type: new-concept · Concept: NightShift · Angle: Pain · Hook type: Callout · Format: Talking head · Creator: Founder
Reference: 3AMWakeup_Pain_Callout_UGC_Creator-Jo_v1 (Ad ID 120210441100002, WINNER): 2.29x ROAS on $4,215.86 lifetime spend, 150 conversions. Source: work/winners.json.
Hypothesis
Pain is the angle with the most winning spend: 2 of 3 judged Pain creatives won, $21,501.12 at 2.47x. Every Pain winner so far is about waking at 3 a.m. A callout to people who have to sleep in daylight tests whether the angle carries to a different sleep problem. The reference callout (120210441100002) holds 2.29x on $4,215.86, and the founder's only talking-head ad won at 2.12x on $2,100.00, so this is a format the team can shoot in-house without Jo.
Hook
Founder to camera: "Night-shift nurses, this one's for you. Sleeping at 9 a.m. is a different problem."
Visual direction
Founder at a kitchen table in morning light, blinds half open. Cut-ins of the daytime routine: blackout blinds down, weighted mask, spray. Plain lower-third captions. No stock footage of hospitals.
Script beats
- Callout hook to camera, as above.
- Why daytime sleep is harder: light, noise, a body that thinks it's morning.
- The routine the founder designed for it: blinds, mask, spray, phone away.
- Reply-to-comment style close: "If you work nights, tell me what time you go to bed."
- Call to action: "30-night trial, link below."
Format
4:5 and 9:16, 30 to 40 seconds, Meta Feed and Reels in PROS | Broad | Purchases. New concept and creator versus the reference; keeps its Pain angle and Callout hook.
Success metric
ROAS at or above 2.00x once it has spent $150.00.
Stop rule
Switch it off at $64.00 spend with no purchase, or at $150.00 spend if ROAS is under 1.60x.
